Plain Bearing Hinge: Plain bearing hinges feature knuckles that are machined to a smooth surface, allowing them to move against one another without bearings. Plain bearing hinges are not recommended for heavy use on high traffic entrance ways, but meet the need of a standard residential door.

Material – Iron: Iron hinges have excellent durability and strength. Though more vulnerable to corrosion than other materials, iron provides a beautiful rustic feel in its applications.

Mounting: Shutter Hinges are attached to the front of the shutter so that when the shutters are closed the strap is visible. Two hinges are used per shutter (top and bottom).

Hinge Offset: The pins are mounted to the window frame such that they provide the necessary offset for the shutter based on the type of exterior siding. This hinge is offset 4-1/4″ for stone exterior siding, there are variations of this product which offer different offsets if needed.
