Every one of Schlage’s L-Series locks meets ANSI Grade 1 standards for safety.

Office and Inner Entry Lock with Automatic Unlocking: The latchbolt is retracted by the lever from either side, unless the outside is made inoperative by use of a key from the outside, or by turning the thumbturn from the inside. The outside lever is unlocked by key from the outside, or by thumbturn from the inside. Rotating the inside lever simultaneously retracts the latchbolt and unlocks the outside lever. The auxiliary latch deadlocks the latchbolt when the door is closed. The inside lever is always free for immediate egress.
